The formats in detail
In short
ZUGFeRD, XRechnung and Peppol implement the same standard, EN 16931. ZUGFeRD is a PDF/A-3 with embedded XML, readable by people and software. XRechnung is pure XML with additional German rules and is required by public-sector buyers. Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 is the UBL format for sending over the Peppol network.

A PDF for people, an XML for accounting, both in one file. ZUGFeRD is Quittio’s default format.

The German standard based on EN 16931, mandatory for invoices to federal authorities. With Quittio it is a one-line change.
